Wholeness in Motion • Movement Flows/Sequences
The Three WIM Sequences are designed to be a comprehensive way to experience the innate capability of your system to BE well-being, to be perceptive, responsive, clear, strong, expressive and rooted in love and joy, to move with ease and intelligence, to be free to be yourself.
Ocean Sequence-Earth to Sky Flow
The Earth to Sky Flow takes you from simplicity to complexity as you flow naturally from maximum contact with the planet to minimum contact. These movement patterns reflect our developmental and evolutionary journey from elemental being to a single breathing cell to our full upright stature. As you traverse this range you become in touch with many of the underpinnings of lively healthy movement. Through the flow you change, repeat and sustain supported and free shapes creating your unique and personal "asanas". Benefits of this flow range from deep, presence and ease to developing powerful, dynamic, practical strength and flexibility.
"This series of evolutionary metamorphoses is a kind of time-lapse animation of your history, each period still contained and embodied in our structure and in our nature today." David Gorman
"Heredity is nothing but stored environment." Harrod Buhner

The VIDEO below was the Intro to the 2021 Summer 60 day Challenge. If you are new to WIM it gives a you a feel for the Earth to Sky Sequence and ways to approach al the Sequences. It won't give you specific instructions. You can still join in and do your version to what you are hearing/seeing/feeling.
The Animal Sequence
This form blends movement principles and shapes from several martial arts, South Indian classical dance, Yoga and a Korean Health sequence. The form evokes an alertness of yourself and the world around you, a kind of lively centering. It is animated with images to encourage you to use your fullest physical range. Because there is specificity in this form there is an opportunity to use these shapes to systematically anunciate and practice anatomical and movement principles. The form can be used as a daily practice to remind you of balance, freedom, mindfulness and functional strength and flexibility.
"Oh beauty before me, beauty behind me, beauty to the right of me, beauty to the left of me, Beauty below me. I'm on the pollen path. Pollen path is the path to the center." traditional
"There is one place in all the Universe that has been made just for you. And it is inside your own feet." Harrod Buhner

Patterns of Nature (FKA-Meta-Patterns in Movement or Patterns of Joy • Perspectives of Health
The Patterns of Nature sequence takes you through a series of ten simple shapes/patterns. Each pattern offers a window for learning about the world, Each pattern is associated with a perspective that promotes well-being. The movement and gestural patterns are like a physical anchor to each perspective. The practice of these patterns is designed to give you access to these well-being perspectives when you really need them by simply doing the gesture or movement. The patterns meet you on a deep archetypal level, touching you on many levels beyond words.
"Ourselves, (that is our particular hundreds of millions of years old family line). David Gorman
The Shapes/patterns:
Vibration -Torodial - pulses-waves-potency before form
Layers Horizontal Planes -mesas - I am star dust - life force - part of the universe in the fibres of being
Fluidity & From- creative force - what is true for me/my response - true self
Trajectory - Lines - clarity - true to self in context of the world
Threshold = Pause - Putting down the staff - Here I am, as I am. In the world, as it is.
Spirals - embracing/releasing - healthy inter-being -compassion
Spheres - abundance/gratitude - being with what is rather than what isn't
Star -Expansion Blossoming
Wave Change- chrysalis to butterfly - crests and troughs of life
Suspension - insight - connecting to the matrix of the universe - stillness/silence
Space/Vibration - beyond density - freedom
"A metapattern is a pattern so wide flung that it appears throughout the spectrum of reality: in clouds, rivers, planets, in cells, organisms and ecosystems, art and patterns of patterns" Tyler Volk
The video below comes in the context of a 12 week - 36 class session. This was day 30 we went through the whole Meta-patterns Sequence. If you are new, just ignore details you aren't familiar with and just receive what is easy to follow and play with, like stick with the shapes themselves.

Below is an older version of the Patterns of Nature, before Vibration showed up. It has the Natya Assanas in it -- these are adaptations of Bharata Natyum forms into Assanas as Archetypes as resources for regaining our powers. I am now hesitating to use these forms as I question what is cultural appropriation as compared to trans-cultural exchange. I started studying Bharata Natyum when I was 18 the forms are in me and I honor the Hindu context of this movement. I bow to my teachers in India and hope they feel represented and seen in this adaptation. If I am blind to something please let me know. I intend to honor not appropriate.
